Carillon
The carillon
Andries Dirk van Eck, head of the architectural department of the then Directorate of the Wieringermeer (Noordoostpolder works), strongly advocated for the realization of a carillon. A campaign among the population, initiated by A.D. van Eck, resulted in a total of 48 bells. Each village in the municipality of Noordoostpolder donated a bell.
The Carillon
In the years 1958/59, the Carillon received 48 bells of various sizes. The bells were cast by bell foundry Eijsbouts. All bells have received inscriptions. The heaviest bell, named 'Juliana Regina', also serves as a ringing bell and is the heaviest ringing bell in Flevoland. The smallest bell weighs 13 kilograms.
